I’m already sitting on the answer I’ve been praying for.

“The wife of a man from the company of the prophets cried out to Elisha, ‘Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that he revered the Lord. But now his creditor is coming to take my two boys as his slaves.’ Elisha replied to her, ‘How can I help you? Tell me, what do you have in your house?’ ‘Your servant has nothing there at all,’ she said, ‘except a little oil.’” - 2 Kings 4:1-2 (New International Version)

3 years ago when I was praying about what business to pursue next, God led me to take inventory of my talents and asked me what I’m the best at. When I did it, I couldn’t shake the fact that I’ve always been a teacher, gifted to break down information and spiritual truths in relatable ways. My issue though was what does me being able to teach the Bible have to do with my future business? God we ain’t talking about ministry here, I’m asking you about BIDNESS.

Well clearly, that talent I was sleep on had a whole book, products, programs, a podcast 😏, more books 😏 and a whole company inside it that I didn’t realize at the time. I was so busy looking for the big obvious thing I could build my business with that I was missing the small, seed thing God wanted to use to build my business for me.

Don’t sleep on your “little oil” Love.

When Elisha asked the widow what she had for him to work with in order to fix her problem, she basically said I ain’t got nothin’ fam. Nada. She was sitting on the help she was looking for and didn’t even know it. How many times are we sitting on our answer but we don’t realize it because we’re too busy looking at what we lack instead of the abundance we have in God?!

Thank God she got the revelation that she actually did have something of value that could potentially help her out of her situation. That “little oil” eventually paid off all her debt and gave her and her sons income to live off of for years to come (2 Kings 4:3-7). All she had to do was recognize the value in something she already had; then the door to her provision busted wide open.

Love, whether you’re trying to figure out what business to focus on like I was, or have been asking God for help in a situation, know this: God can use what you already have to get you the help you need. Don’t look at your gifting or that tiny seed you have as insignificant, no matter how small it seems. Your “little oil” is all God needs to work with and it’s way more valuable than you might think. Give it to Him and watch Him make it do what it do.
